The Bird Oracle is gone.

You showed up at the doorstep of her small cottage in the woods, on your first day as her apprentice, your fifth year as her friend, and her small cottage - a comedic stereotype for a woods witch to live in, all thatched roofs and creaking floorboards and cupboards filled with old glass jars - was empty.

The cottage itself was still filled with the detritus of her life, but it was nevertheless devoid of her.

She said she would take you in, but she is not here now.

She was supposed to teach you how to do this, but she did not. 

But you do not need to find her. You’ll find your way.

What is The Bird Oracle?

The Bird Oracle is a solo journalling keepsake game about creating a personalized divination system, but it is also a game about intentional loneliness, the lineage of your choices, and multilevel marketing schemes.

The complete limited-edition physical version of the game comes in a custom made book box, with a brass plated divination spinner, a screen printed throwing cloth, a brass plated planchette, a bundle of the Oraclebird’s notes, the game book, and some other game-related surprises.

How do I obtain a copy of The Bird Oracle?

The complete limited edition version of the game is limited to 550 copies. This is a constraint created by my capacity to assemble the game, as well as my attention span. This version of the game includes a full set of custom designed divination tools and game components, including a divination spinner, a throwing cloth, and planchette, designed by Shing Yin Khor specifically for this game. This version of the game will cost $180 and be released in limited drops of approximately 50 copies each in the latter half of 2022. Each release will be slightly different and involve a small hand-crafted or hand-curated component, unique to that release.

There will be an artist edition of the game, limited to 50 copies, which will cost $500 each. This is the complete version of the game, like the special edition, except with hand embellished and aged game components. It also includes a one-of-a-kind hand-built wooden altar, hand-built and hand-carved by me(Shing Yin Khor) in my Los Angeles woodshop. This version of the game will be released with the other releases; but in small batches of 4-5.

A physical copy of the book will cost $25. The book-only version of the game will require some assembly and creation of personal divination tools and game components before playing the game. The process of making these objects is part of the game’s intention.

A digital copy of The Bird Oracle book will be free or PWYW - the game’s content and design will be offered for free; the cost of all the limited editions reflect the work of producing, creating, designing, and assembling tangible physical components.
